A new global treaty could allow corporations to police what we do on the Internet. Last week we successfully pushed back the US censorship bills — if we act now, we can get the EU Parliament to bury this new threat — add your voice now!

Synthpop legend Thomas Dolby takes us to a dieselpunk dystopia for his first studio album in 20 years(via @io9)

Fascinating interview about the brilliant new project from the man who was steampunk before anyone had ever thought of “steampunk.” I’m not even a gamer and I’m all a-tingle about this crossover idea!

"After becoming famous for such hits as 1982’s "She Blinded Me With Science," synthesizer maestro Thomas Dolby spent 20+ years in the private sector inventing new digital music technologies."

Masha Sardari is still a teenager, and yet her work on flickr is truly impressive. Her self-portraits are by far her best work. The magic of her ethereal, Pre-Raphaelite/Symbolist images seems to only exist with her within them. It’s the tension between her thin, angular, waifish body—lovely, awkward, and fragile—and the macabre and beautiful natural environment that will make you want to spend the next 2 hours going through all of her photostream. Also, much of her shoots are in Northeast Florida, my home since birth, and I am more than a little in love with that fact. The details of her environment are at once familiar and mysterious. Like a good fairy tale. I’d love to see what she’ll be doing a decade from now.

Something more than mugshots...

Wondrous video of vintage Berlin Wall footage accompanied by the actual Numbers Station broadcast, “Swedish Rhapsody”. I guarantee chills.

Amazing street photographer Vivian Maier was only discovered recently and only after she died. She left over 100,000 photos of New York and Chicago in the 50s and 60s, mostly undeveloped. Read the amazing story here, a blog by the man who accidentally discovered her.

Spooky, wonderful work by German photographer Michael Wesely, using impossibly long exposure—like 34 months for the top one of NYC.  Stefan Klenke has a nice article about it here

Heigh Ho

A few great shots of the coolest guy in the universe from his website.

RIP to a dear friend, a remarkable person and the most amazing actor the Florida stage will ever know. Jeff Norton, the only example of someone who has always, unflaggingly, followed his own heart that I know. And a boundless, deep, generous heart it was.
